Frequently Asked Questions
Ten straight answers about how Atlanta Curbside actually works. If your question isn’t here, the service page for your item probably covers it.
What does “curbside only” actually mean?
It means you put the item at the end of your driveway or at the curb in front of your house — and that’s where we pick it up. We don’t come inside. We don’t go in your garage. We don’t walk to the backyard. The item has to be visible from the road and within about 10 feet of where the truck can park. This is what keeps our prices about half of what “full-service” junk removal companies charge.
Do I need to be home for the pickup?
No. That’s the whole point. You book online, pay upfront, set the item at the curb by 8 AM on pickup day, and go about your day. The vast majority of our customers are at work when we come through. You’ll get an email confirmation with a timestamped photo when the item is loaded.
What if my item is too heavy for one person to drag to the curb?
You’re responsible for getting the item to the curb. For most household items (mattress, couch, treadmill) a furniture dolly or two people can handle it. For hot tubs, swing sets, and trampolines, plan on partially disassembling them in place first — each service page has specifics. If you genuinely cannot get the item to the curb, curbside service isn’t going to work for you and you’ll want a full-service junk hauler (we can recommend one).
Do you offer disposal of refrigerators or freezers?
Not at this time. Refrigerant-containing appliances require EPA-certified handling under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, and we’re not currently set up to do that legally. We’re working on getting certified — for now, your best bet is to contact Republic Services or the Walton County transfer station directly. If you’d like to be notified when we add appliance pickup, drop a line via the contact page.
What’s NOT allowed for pickup?
No hazardous materials: paint, motor oil, propane tanks, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, pesticides, asbestos, or anything labeled “flammable” or “corrosive.” No tires (the landfill won’t accept them and tire dealers do tire disposal cheaper). No yard waste or construction debris in bulk. No mattresses with active bedbug evidence or raw sewage. No refrigerators or freezers (see previous question). When in doubt, email before booking.
How is pricing set?
Flat-rate per item. We’ve worked out the average labor, fuel, and landfill tip fee for each of our seven main items and built that into a single price. What you see on the service page is what you pay at checkout — no fuel surcharges, no “truck fees,” no in-person upsells. Mattress $99, couch $129, trampoline $179, swing set $249, pool $179, treadmill $99, hot tub $399. Multiple items get bundled discounts (see service pages).
What’s the cancellation policy?
Cancel more than 24 hours before your pickup day for a full refund — just reply to your booking confirmation email. Cancel less than 24 hours before and we keep 50% to cover the route-planning cost (we’ve already loaded your stop into the day’s run). If we cancel for weather, you get a full refund or a free reschedule, your call. We’ve never “no-show”-ed a customer in our entire operating history.
What if it rains on pickup day?
Routine rain doesn’t stop us — the trailer is open, the items are going to the landfill, water doesn’t change anything. We’ll only reschedule for severe weather (tornado warning, large hail, ice/snow, sustained lightning). If we have to push your pickup, you’ll get an email by 7 AM that morning offering the next available route day at no cost.
Do you take items that still have value? Sell or donate them?
If the item is in genuinely good shape, please consider listing it on Facebook Marketplace or donating to Goodwill or Habitat ReStore first — those are better outcomes than the landfill. We do not run a resale or donation operation. Once we pick it up, items go to the Walton County C&D Landfill or to scrap metal recycling for steel-frame items. We don’t have storage space to hold things for resale, and we don’t “rescue” items off the curb.
What ZIP codes do you serve?
Walton County: 30655 (Monroe), 30656, 30680, 30650 (Mansfield). Newton County: 30014, 30016 (Covington), 30055 (Newborn), 30070 (Porterdale), 30054 (Oxford). Rockdale County: 30012, 30013, 30094 (Conyers). Gwinnett County (east): 30052 (Loganville), 30078 (Snellville), 30017 (Grayson), 30039. If your ZIP isn’t on this list, the booking page will flag it at checkout before you pay — we’d rather turn you away than take money for a route we can’t run.
